Music in the Museum
A day of acoustic folk music at Cambridge Museum of Technology.
A day of acoustic music around the old pumping station with its wonderful preserved and working Victorian engines and bygones. Find an informal folk club in the Top Bay and busking opportunities around some of the building’s wonderful spaces including the Ash Tunnel, the Boiler Room, and Main Engine Room.
Bring along songs and ballads about industry and working lives, steam, engines, rivers - Think Woody Guthrie’s Jackhammer Blues and Ewan MacColl’s Dirty Old Town.
The old pumping station was built in 1894 and closed in 1968 after 72 years in steam and is now a volunteer-run museum.
